Eric finally had his long awaited disciplinary hearing on February 10th after his abrupt transfer from FCI Englewood to the S.H.U. (Secure Housing Unit) of FCI Florence on January 6th. As explained in previous blog posts, this is all for expressions of his political and personal beliefs including some doodles found on a piece of paper in his cell at FCI Englewood. As a result of the February 10th hearing, Eric received four sanctions: loss of phone, loss of visits, loss of commissary for 60 days, and loss of 27 days of “good time”. Considering the main allegation was a cartoon these are pretty harsh restrictions. Eric has been bumped up from a low to a medium security level and is now awaiting transfer to an unknown facility which will likely be sending him further from his family.
As we well know, the practice of unfairly targeting political prisoners is nothing new. It is now abundantly clear that we have to prepare for what could be a long and arduous road ahead for Eric. We are thankful that he now has radical attorney working on his behalf however it is imperative that we continue to strengthen and broaden his support base.

EE.UU.: ACTUALIZACIÓN DE AUDIENCIA DISCIPLINARIA DE ERIC KING
Eric finalmente tuvo su esperada audiencia disciplinaria el 10 de febrero después de su abrupta transferencia de FCI Englewood a la S.H.U. (Unidad de Encarcelamiento Seguro) de FCI Florencia el 6 de enero. Como se explicó en publicaciones anteriores en el blog, todo esto es por las expresiones de sus creencias políticas y personales, incluyendo algunos garabatos que se le encuentran en un pedazo de papel en su celda en FCI Englewood. Como resultado de la audiencia del 10 de febrero, Eric recibió cuatro sanciones: pérdida de teléfono, pérdida de visitas, pérdida de comisario(*) por 60 días y pérdida de 27 días de “buen tiempo”. Teniendo en cuenta que estas restricciones son muy duras. Eric ha sido trasladado de un nivel de seguridad bajo a uno de nivel medio y ahora está esperando su transferencia a una instalación desconocida que probablemente lo estará enviando más lejos de su familia.
Como bien sabemos, la práctica de atacar injustamente a los presos políticos no es nada nuevo. Ahora esta muy claro que tenemos que prepararnos para lo que podría ser un largo y arduo camino por delante para Eric. Estamos agradecidos de que ahora tenga un abogado radical que trabaja en su nombre sin embargo, es imperativo que continuemos fortaleciendo y ampliando su base de apoyo.
